The Ellah Project

Terms & Conditions

Effective date: 09/01/26

These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of ellahproject.org and communications related to website inquiries, assistance requests, referrals, volunteering, and partnerships. By accessing or using our website, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use our website.

The Ellah Project ("we," "us," or "our") is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering individuals and families facing homelessness, domestic violence, and challenges impacting at-risk youth. These Terms apply to our own website and activities. Independent organizations we refer you to have their own terms and practices. Where we provide digital services on behalf of another nonprofit, that organization's terms and our agreement with it govern information handled on its behalf.

1. Use of our website

You agree to use our website for lawful purposes only and in a manner that does not infringe the rights of, or restrict or inhibit the use and enjoyment of, this website by any third party. Prohibited activities include:

  • Attempting to gain unauthorized access to any part of the website, its systems, or its data.
  • Introducing viruses, malware, or other harmful material.
  • Using automated tools to scrape, harvest, or collect data from the website.
  • Impersonating any person or entity, or misrepresenting your affiliation with any person or entity.
  • Using the website to harass, threaten, defraud, or harm others.
  • Submitting false, misleading, or fraudulent information through our forms or communications.

2. Assistance requests and referrals

Our website provides information and a way to request support related to housing, domestic violence, and youth assistance. Submitting a form or message does not create a client, patient, attorney-client, or other professional relationship, and does not guarantee services, housing, financial assistance, or any specific outcome.

Requests are reviewed based on the information you provide and program availability. We may connect you with partner organizations, resources, or hotlines when appropriate. Partner organizations have their own eligibility requirements, waitlists, and policies. We cannot guarantee availability, eligibility, or timelines for third-party programs.

If you submit information about another person (for example, a young person, a family member, or someone you are assisting), you confirm that you have appropriate permission or other lawful authority to do so. Please share only the information necessary for an initial response.

3. Sensitive information and safe communication

Assistance requests can reveal sensitive information about housing, family circumstances, health, abuse, or a young person's needs. Please provide only what is needed for an initial response. Do not send Social Security numbers, payment card details, passwords, detailed medical records, or a confidential shelter address through a general website form or email.

When a form offers safe-contact preferences, we use those preferences to guide our response. Please identify a safe method and time for contact, and tell us if it is unsafe to leave a voicemail or send a message. A phone number or email address may still be visible to someone who can access your device or account.

Your device privacy matters. If someone may monitor your device, account, or internet activity, consider using a safer device or connection. Private browsing and leaving this website do not guarantee that your activity is hidden. Website forms are not an emergency response service.

4. No professional advice

Content on this website, including articles, resources, links, and any downloadable materials, is provided for general informational purposes only. It does not constitute legal, medical, psychological, financial, housing, or other professional advice, and should not be relied on as a substitute for consultation with qualified professionals.

If you are in crisis, please contact emergency services or a qualified crisis hotline. If you need legal, medical, or mental health support, please consult a licensed professional in your jurisdiction.

5. Intellectual property

All content on this website, including text, graphics, logos, images, downloadable materials, and software, is the property of The Ellah Project or its content suppliers and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, publicly display, or create derivative works from our content without our prior written consent.

You may share links to our website and content for non-commercial, awareness-building purposes, provided you do not alter the content, remove attribution, or imply endorsement. Any other use requires our prior written permission.

6. Donations and contributions

Donations made through our website are processed by secure third-party payment providers. Donations are generally non-refundable unless required by law or made in error. We are grateful for every contribution and use donations to support our mission and programs.

We reserve the right to decline or refund any donation at our discretion. Donors are responsible for ensuring that their contributions comply with applicable laws in their jurisdiction and for providing accurate information for any tax receipt where applicable.

7. Volunteer and partner conduct

Volunteers, partners, and anyone interacting with our website or community agree to:

  • Treat all community members, staff, and volunteers with dignity and respect.
  • Protect the confidentiality of any information shared with them through their involvement with us.
  • Refrain from using their association with The Ellah Project to solicit, promote, or misrepresent the organization.
  • Comply with all applicable laws, program policies, and any additional agreements they enter into with us.
  • Report any concerns about safety, misuse, or harm to us promptly.

8. Children and youth

Our website includes resources for young people and allows parents, guardians, and authorized adults to request help on their behalf. Children under 13 should not submit personal information through our general website forms. A parent or guardian should contact us to arrange an appropriate intake process.

Before collecting personal information directly from a child under 13, we provide any legally required parental notice and obtain any legally required verifiable parental consent, unless a lawful exception applies. If you believe a child has provided information without the required authorization, please contact us so we can review the circumstances and take appropriate steps, including deletion when required.

9. Third-party links and resources

Our website may include links to third-party websites, partner organizations, hotlines, and external resources. We do not control, endorse, or assume responsibility for the content, privacy practices, accuracy, or availability of any third-party sites. A referral or link does not mean that another organization follows these Terms or our policies.

Your use of third-party websites is at your own risk. We encourage you to review their terms and privacy policies before providing any personal information or relying on their content.

10. Disclaimer of warranties

Our website and services are provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the website will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or free of harmful components.

We make reasonable efforts to keep information on our website accurate and current, but we do not guarantee that all content is complete, accurate, or up to date. Resource information, eligibility criteria, and program details may change without notice.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, The Ellah Project and its officers, directors, employees, volunteers, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the website or services, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

This includes, without limitation, damages arising from reliance on website content, inability to access the website, interactions with third-party organizations, or the unavailability of any program or resource referenced on the website.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless The Ellah Project and its officers, directors, employees, volunteers, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in any way connected with your violation of these Terms, your use of the website, or your violation of any rights of another person or entity.

13. Governing law and disputes

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the applicable laws of the jurisdiction in which The Ellah Project operates, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any legal action arising out of these Terms shall be brought exclusively in the appropriate courts of that jurisdiction.

Before pursuing formal legal action, we encourage you to contact us directly so we can try to resolve any concerns in good faith and in a way that respects the community we serve.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as our practices, website features, or legal obligations change. The effective date above will identify the current version. When applicable law requires additional notice or permission for a material change, we will provide that notice or obtain that permission before applying the change. Your continued use of the website after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

15. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
